I recommend using the Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire # TT48012C on your jet ski trailer. This will upgrade you to a radial tire which will perform much better on the road and give you a longer tread life. I do not like going to a larger tire on a boat trailer due to launching and loading your jet ski. The taller tire will require you to back further onto the ramp.

Trailer tires don't have to be balanced but you can definitely have a shop do it for you. I'm not familiar with the whole process of adding the weights, but the shop that does it will know if that's okay or not.

All of our wheel/tire combos come pre-balanced to an extent. The heavy spot on the wheel is aligned with the light spot on the tire to create a balance that is sufficient for use on trailers. They are not completely balanced and will need to be taken to a reputable shop to be zeroed out should you choose but the light/heavy spot method will be more than sufficient for most trailers.

The pre-mounted trailer wheel/trailer tire products we sell, such as # AM31994, are not dynamically balanced the way vehicle wheels/tires are. Trailer tires do not really need to be fully balanced the way vehicle tires do but you could have them balanced if you wanted. These items are mounted together so that the wheel's heavy spot mates up to the tire's light spot; this is not the same as a full dynamic balance but it is fine for trailer use.

The tire and wheel combos we carry are not machined balanced. The reason manufacturers do not balance their tires and wheel assemblies like the Karrier Tire and Wheel Combo # AM31991 is because a balanced tire and wheel is not very necessary on a trailer. An ST205/75-15 trailer tire will fit on 15 x 5 to 15 x 6-1/2 inch wheels but will not fit a 15 x 7 inch wheel. Wheel width is not the overall width. It is the width where the tire sits, bead seat to bead seat. So if you are measuring the overall width at 7 inches outside to outside then you likely have closer to a 15 x 6 inch wheel.
